How to get your free report

Go to annualcreditreport.com — the only government-authorized source.
Request your reports from Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.
You're entitled to free reports from each bureau at regular intervals.
Review all three — errors can show on one and not another.

Can’t access your report online?

Sometimes online identity verification doesn’t go through. It’s more common than you’d think. If that happens, you have legitimate alternatives to the same free reports:

  • Go directly to each bureau's own site — equifax.com, experian.com, and transunion.com — each offers a free report with its own verification flow.
  • Request by mail using the Annual Credit Report Request Form.
  • Order by phone through the automated annual credit report line at 1-877-322-8228.

Tip: be cautious of third-party “free report” sites — stick to the official sources above to avoid surprise upsells or subscriptions.
